Scholarships for 2023-24 Academic Year
Thomas J. Agnello Award
(Selected by the Ridgewood High School Child Study Team, with additional insight from Guidance Counselors)
Established May 19, 1999. Mr. Agnello's daughter, Heather, presented the first award on June 4, 1999.
In memory of Mr. Agnello for his unlimited contributions to the Ridgewood Public School District, faculty, parents, and students.
Awarded to a student who has and continues to exhibit leadership, moral dedication, honesty, integrity, and has conquered many challenges.
Following are the criteria for this award:
Continually establishing new accomplishments while strengthening previous abilities.
Recognizing one's needs while advocating for one's self.
Always being excited to learn and expand on previous knowledge.
Being understanding and supportive of other students' needs and challenges.
Currently the award is for one student. They receive a check for $250.
William J. Cobb Award
(Selected by the Ridgewood High School Child Study Team, with additional insight from Guidance Counselors)
In honor of Dr. Cobb who retired as Assistant Superintendent of our school district, for all of his support to the special education programs.
Awarded to a student who has worked conscientiously and industriously across his/her four years at Ridgewood High School.
Following are the criteria for this award:
Strong work ethic.
Good moral character.
Motivated to overcome obstacles in academic arena.
Used support systems wisely.
Can self-advocate strengths and weaknesses.
Currently the award is for one student. They receive a check for $250.
The Kerry Huntington Scholarship
(Selected by the Ridgewood SEPAG Scholarship Committee)
The Learning Services Home and School Association (now the Ridgewood SEPAG) established this scholarship in 2013 in honor of Kerry Huntington’s retirement from the Ridgewood Public School District. Ms. Huntington served the Village of Ridgewood for more than 20 years in a variety of roles, culminating in her appointment as Director of Special Services. Her leadership, integrity, and dedication to the children of Ridgewood with special needs and their families was unwavering and is worthy of deep admiration.
Criteria:
Graduating senior of RHS.
Applicant should have volunteered their time and talents to clubs, activities, and organizations that support children with special needs and challenges.
Essay of 250 words reflecting on your involvement in and support of the special needs’ community.
The Local Scholarship RIDGEWOOD SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION must be returned by January 12, 2023.
